For the sherlock100 prompt "Middles."

Part 1

John Hates Mornings, Part 2

When John opened his eyes, his door was swinging shut.

“Should’ve installed the bloody doorstop!” he groaned as he forced himself out of bed and began fumbling with his shirt buttons.

Five minutes later he had started a cup of last night’s coffee in the microwave. “What is it, Sherlock?”

“Benson!”  Sherlock appeared in the doorway, texting with his right hand as he shrugged his left arm into his coat.   “It was Benson all along!  Idiot!  Should’ve seen it on Saturday, but I missed…”

John cursed at his shoelaces and ignored Sherlock in favor of looking speculatively at his bottle of Maxtrex.

“Yes, John.  Every Monday.”

“Is it Monday?”

“You’re absolutely useless in the mornings!  Do you honestly think I could have overlooked a clue like that for more than twenty-four hours?”

John snorted, washed the pill down with half his cup of lukewarm coffee, and started stiffly after Sherlock, who was almost halfway to the street.

At the foot of the stairs he stopped short.  “Hang on!  I can’t take that without…”

“Especially Monday mornings!  Left pocket, John!”

John reached into his pocket and felt a banana.  He smiled, and started running.

If I'm not completely confused, Maxex is one of the brand names it goes by in England.

Ha! Great story. I can sympathize with poor John.
Sep. 30th, 2011 01:21 pm (UTC)
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

Heh. Very good. Sherlock would pay attention that would ensure John could keep up with him.
Sep. 30th, 2011 01:20 pm (UTC)
:-) Thank you.

Grr.. Meant to say he would pay attention to the things that would ensure John could keep up with him. Sheesh.. brain goes faster than the fingers.
Sep. 30th, 2011 03:18 pm (UTC)
Haha! Yeah, story of my life...

I knew what you meant, though.

Awww... Sherlock does... sort of care. (-:

The comm seems to be defunct (or at least un-modded) now, but I like the prompt table, so I plan to work my way through the prompts.

Eh, screw it, I'm having fun, I'm gonna keep going, too. (-:

:-) Glad you liked it.

Re: the comm, the problem is that I didn't get approved by the moderator before she stopped modding, so I don't have posting rights.

But it's a great prompt table!

Ooh, Yeah, the whole "You can't post until you're approved" thing is a real pain if the mod's skipped out... )-:

But it's a great prompt table!

Agreed. I'm lurk on a 100 prompt thing where the prompts are kind of all over the place. Like, it has color prompts just the sherlock100 one does, but they start at 13 and go to 24. The hell? Still, it's not like you post the prompts in order, so I might still sign on. But having them in sets of five or ten makes it a lot easier to organize when you're writing them.
Sep. 30th, 2011 09:51 pm (UTC)
What's the other 100 prompt thing called?
Sep. 30th, 2011 10:02 pm (UTC)
100_tales. The main reason I like it is that you don't have to pick a fandom to use, you can use any fandom or group of fandoms you like. As much as I love sherlock100, I'm not sure I want to be tied to writing 100 stories for another specific fandom. This way, if I change fandoms, I can just write for the new one. And if I become re-interested in an old fandom (like I've recently done with Sherlock, actually), I can go back to writing it. Whatevs. (-:

Still sympathizing with John, though I like that Sherlock thought to put the banana in his pocket.
Oct. 15th, 2011 04:52 am (UTC)
John's lot is not an easy one. :-)

*grinning* Making up for stealing John's coffee, good job, Sherlock. Poor John! *cuddles*

This was excellent!

Yes, in my headcanon Sherlock gets at least a touch more thoughtful... though not incredibly so. :-P

Glad you enjoyed it!
